2013-14

Made an impressive runs at Nationals to earn All-American honors for the first time with a second place finish at 141 lbs. … was named the EWL and PSAC Wrestler of the Year after ending the year with a 34-4 record, with six falls, a technical fall, and seven major decisions … seeded fourth heading into Nationals, Port would advance to the finals thanks to a 7-6 upset of top-seeded Hunter Stieber of Ohio State in the semifinals … in the finals he would suffer a 4-3 loss to second-seeded Kendric Maple of Oklahoma, after previously falling to then top-ranked Maple in the Midlands Championships by a 14-11 decision … finals defeat snapped a string of 19 straight wins that included a 5-0 decision over eighth-ranked Mark Ballweg of Iowa … his run to the title match began with a 5-2 decision over Frank Cimato of Drexel, followed by a 13-2 major decision over Hofstra’s Luke Vaith … in the quarterfinals he defeated fifth-seeded Evan Henderson of North Carolina for the third time in the season, this time by a 13-5 major decision … won his first EWL crown thanks to a 6-1 decision over Dan Neff of Lock Haven, and picked up his second PSAC title with an 11-1 major decision against Clarion’s Sam Sherlock … placed fifth at the Midlands Championships, going 4-2 … picked up fifth place thanks to a 7-0 win over Henderson, after earlier defeating the Tar Heel 4-0 in the quarterfinals … lost to Maple in the semifinals and dropped a 7-5 decision to seventh-ranked Mike Mangrum of Oregon State in his next match … after sitting out the beginning of the year following offseason shoulder surgery, he opened 2012-13 with a second place finish at the MSU Open … handed Tyler Small of Kent State a 9-5 loss in the semifinals before falling to Stieber, ranked fourth at the time, in the finals by a 12-7 decision.

Enjoyed outstanding first season as the starter at 141 lbs., ending the year at 30-10 with three falls, two technical falls and seven major decisions … went 3-2 at Nationals, reaching round of 12 before coming up a win short of All-American status when he suffered a 6-4 loss to fourth-seeded Mike Mangrum of Stanford … other loss at Nationals was to the third seed, Montell Marion of Iowa … qualified for Nationals with a second place finish at the EWL Championships, falling to West Virginia’s Mike Morales, 7-6, in the title bout … took first place at the PSAC Championships with a 12-4 major decision over Tyler Bedelyon of Clarion in the finals … also finished first at the UB Open, and was third at the Michigan State Open … won by major decision over Matt Ortega of Indiana, 17-5, in the third place match at Michigan State Open, after suffering 4-0 loss to top-ranked Kellen Russell of Michigan in semifinals.
2010-11
Redshirted a year ago while competing in open events at 133 and 141 lbs... ended the year with a 16-5 record with 4 falls, a technical fall and 3 major decisions ... won a pair of tournaments, placing first at the tough Nittany Lion Open at 133 lbs., along with winning the Ashland Bill Harris Open at 141 lbs... went 5-0 at the Nittany Lion Open, winning an 8-2 decision over Buffalo’s Kevin Smith in the finals ... defeated Schopp 7-5 in the semifinals ... defeated Ashland’s Kyle Kanaga by fall at 6:30 at the Bill Harris Open to go 4-0 ... took second place at 141 lbs. at the National Collegiate Open, dropping a 3-1 decision to Rutgers starter Billy Ashnault ... came in fourth at 133 lbs. at the UP?Open in his collegiate debut, suffering an 11-3 loss to Schopp in the third place match.

A three-time PIAA place winner and four-time state qualifier for head coach Mike Maney at Bellefonte Area High School … assistant coach is Pat Flynn, Tim Flynn’s brother … finished with a 45-0 record as a senior, winning the PIAA Class AAA title at 125 lbs… won a 6-3 decision over Zachary Horan of Nazareth High School in the finals … placed fourth at 119 lbs. as a junior, losing in the quarterfinals but then battling back with three wins in wrestlebacks before dropping a 3-2 decision to Zach Haynes of Council Rock North High School in the third place match … he was 40-4 as a junior … and went 31-8 while competing at 112 lbs. as a sophomore … came in fifth at 103 lbs. as a freshman, ending the year with at 40-6 … ended his career with a 156-18 record … won the championship at 119 lbs. at the 2009 NHSCA Junior Nationals … was ranked fifth by Amateur Wrestling News at 125 lbs. as a senior.
