- Placed 1st at the PSAC Cross Country Championship in the 5k run.
2018
Emerged as Edinboro’s top runner as a sophomore, earning All-PSAC and All-Atlantic Region honors for the second time … came in seventh at PSAC Championships with a time of 27:13, then followed up with an 11th place showing at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Championships with a time of 35:29 … was Edinboro’s top finisher at Nationals, coming in 155th (35:17) … that was an improvement of 45 spots from the previous year … finished seventh at Doug Watts Invitationals and was 23rd at the SRU Pre-Nationals.
2017
Was named the PSAC Freshman of the Year after earning All-PSAC and All-Atlantic Region honors … finished 17th at the PSAC Championships to earn second team All-PSAC accolades (27:58.6), then followed up with a 23rd place showing at the Atlantic Regional (27:58.6) … would finish 200th in his first trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships … had a number of strong showings during the regular season, coming in 62nd at the Paul Short Invitational, and 73rd at the GLVC Conference Crossover.

Competed for coaches John Butler and Greg Miller in cross country and track and field at Lower Dauphin High School ... in cross country, he was a four-time Midd Penn medalist, a three-time district medalist and a one-time state medalist ... was a four-time cross country and track & field letterwinner and a two-time wrestling letter winner.

Born June 4, 1998 ... Middle Level Education Math/Science major ... son of Jody and Chris Cassel ... has one brother, Lee, who wrestles at Messiah.
