A two-time PIAA state champion, three-time PIAA placewinner, and four-time state qualifier while wrestling for his father, Jim Mulligan, at nearby Saegertown High School … was ranked seventh by InterMat at 182 lbs. … became Saegertown’s and Crawford County’s first two-time state champion and departed with the school record for wins with a 168-21 record, just edging current teammates Dylan Reynolds and Tyler Vath, who had 167 each … won four section championships, four District 10 titles, and three Northwest Region titles, along with a second place as a freshman … captured his second state championship as a senior with a 5-3 decision over rival Julian Gorring of Fort LeBoeuf in the 182 lb. Class 2A state finals … had previously defeated Gorring in the district, sectional, and regional finals, as they met for the 15th time in the last three years … defeated Gorring by fall at 3:51 in the sectional final, 7-2 in the district championship, and 6-0 in the regional final … ended the season with a 40-3 record and was named the Region 3 Wrestler of the Year … competed in the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic and second-ranked Jake Jessen of Willowbrook … as a junior, captured the Class AA state title at 182 lbs. after winning a 6-0 decision over Dominic Fundy of Bethlehem-Center in the finals … was named the District 10 Wrestler of the Year, ending the year with a 46-3 record with 17 falls … added to his resume after that with a second place finish at the 2017 FloNationals, reaching the finals before dropping a 5-2 decision to Jelani Embree of Michigan.
