A two-time Ohio state champion for head coach David Miller at Pymatuning Valley High School … was a four-time OHSAA Division III placewinner, capturing the state title as a junior at 195 lbs. and as a senior at 220 lbs. … concluded his career with a 179-18 record … was also a three-time sectional champion and two-time district champion … ended his career with a string of 90 consecutive wins after going 44-0 as a senior and 46-0 as a junior … became Pymatuning Valley's first state titlist thanks to a 3-1 decision over Logan Hall of Massillon Tuslaw in the 195 lb. Division III championship his junior year ... as a senior, moved up to 220 lbs. and won his second straight state title with an 11-3 major decision over Chris Kuhn of St. Mary Central Catholic … finished as the runner-up at 182 lbs. at the state championships, dropping a 7-1 decision to James Handwork of Rocky River Lutheran West … that was his last loss as a prepster … ended his sophomore season with a 46-4 record, placing at the district tournament and second at the sectional ... became Pymatuning Valley's first state qualifier as a freshman thanks to an eighth place showing at 170 lbs., capping a 43-14 season … won the sectional tournament and finished fourth at the districts … was also a standout in football for the Lakers … was a two-time all-state selection on the gridiron.
