2013-14
Became a two-time All-American after finishing fourth at 133 lbs. for the second straight year, ending with a 35-3 record with 14 falls, 5 technical falls and 5 major decisions … the 14 falls is tied for tenth in a season … came into Nationals as the number three seed after winning his third straight EWL title … picked up three wins to reach the semifinals, starting out with a fall over Navy’s Colton Rasche at 4:55 … followed with a 6-2 decision over Rossi Bruno of Michigan and an 11-7 triumph over seventh-seeded Cashe’ Quiroga of Purdue … in the semifinals had a rematch with Iowa’s Tony Ramos, the number two seed … had defeated Ramos, who was number one at the time,3-2 in the dual meet in December, but this time Ramos handed Schopp a 5-1 defeat in the semifinals … came back to post a 12-4 major decision over Minnesota’s David Thorn, the eighth seed, in the consolation semifinals … wrestled Northern Iowa’s Joe Colon, the number one seed in the third place match, dropping a 1-0 decision … Colon previously handed him his only loss heading into Nationals, a 3-0 decision in the Midlands Championships … named the Outstanding Wrestler at both the EWL Championships and PSAC Championships … enters his third trip to Nationals with a 31-1 record with a team-leading 13 falls, with 15 wins in a row … is seventh in the Most Dominant Wrestler standings, adding five technical falls and four major decisions … became Edinboro’s 26th wrestler with 100 career wins with a fall over West Virginia’s Nathan Pennesi … now has a 103-12 career record, tied for 22nd in career victories, and is second in career falls with 50 … is ranked second by InterMat, TheOpenMat.com and the WrestlingReport.com, along with third by WIN … won his third EWL title with an 18-0 technical fall over Bloomsburg’s Nick Wilcox … won the EWL’s Most Total Dual Match Points award for the second straight year … after taking first place at the MSU Open, then posted the biggest win of his career with 3-2 win over top-ranked Tony Ramos of Iowa … that victory, along with his third straight PSAC title, vaulted him into first place nationally … would suffer his lone loss of the season at the Midlands Championships, dropping a 3-0 decision to seventh-ranked Joe Colon of Northern Iowa … came back to avenge a pair of defeats in his career to take third place, winning a 5-0 decision over fourth-ranked Mason Beckman of Lehigh, followed by a 3-0 decision over Wisconsin’s Tyler Graff, who was ranked eighth, in the third place match … had lost a 5-1 decision to Beckman in the NWCA All-Star Classic, and fell to Graff at last year’s Nationals.
2012-13
Earned All-American honors for the first time in his second trip to Nationals, finishing in fourth place … ended the year with a 33-5 record with 18 falls, two technical falls and six major decisions … the 18 falls ranks fourth … seeded fourth at Nationals, he began with an 8-0 major decision over Michigan’s Rosario Bruno before winning by technical fall 18-1 (2:42) over Derek Steeley of Binghamton … he reached the semifinals with an 11-7 decision over Chris Dardanes of Minnesota, the fifth seed … the two had met at the beginning of the year in the NWCA All-Star Classic, with Schopp prevailing 2-1 … Schopp lost by technical fall to top-seeded and eventual national champion Logan Stieber of Ohio State, 18-2 (7:00) in the semifinals … in the consolation semifinals he handed seventh-seeded Jonathon Morrison of Oklahoma State a 9-3 defeat, before dropping a 6-3 decision to Wisconsin’s Tyler Graff, the third seed, in the third place bout … opened the year with 14 straight wins before dropping a 4-2 decision to Stanford’s Ryan Mango in the Midlands Championships … would go on to finish fifth at Midlands, winning by fall over tenth-seeded Daryl Thomas of Illinois at 2:42, and dropping a 6-0 decision to Graff … was named the Outstanding Wrestler at the Virginia Duals after sweeping all four of his matches, including a pair of falls and a 10-2 major decision over seventh-ranked Scott Sentes of Central Michigan … won his second EWL title, handing 17th-ranked Shelton Mack of Pittsburgh a 2-0 defeat in the finals … also made it two PSAC championships as he won once by fall and twice by major decision … defeated Nick Wilcox of Bloomsburg 9-0 in the finals … took home first place at the MSU Open, winning three of his matches by fall.
2011-12
Was named the EWL Rookie of the Year and PSAC Freshman of the Year after reaching round of 12 at Nationals and coming up a win shy of All-American status … competing at 149 lbs., ended the year with a 39-6 record, with 19 falls, seven technical falls and two major decisions … the 19 falls is the third-highest total in a season … entered Nationals seeded seventh, and would go 3-2 … was eliminated via a 9-5 decision to eighth-seeded Zach Stevens of Michigan after picking up a pair of wins in the wrestlebacks … had earlier defeated Stevens 4-0 in the Michigan State Open championship match … took first place at four different tournaments, including the EWL Championships with 4-3 overtime decision over 18th-ranked Shelton Mack of Pittsburgh … got career off to a great start with 14 straight wins before falling to fourth-seeded Logan Stieber of Ohio State by a 10-5 decision in the finals of the Las Vegas Invitational … also took first place at the PSAC Championships and UB Open, defeating Mack 4-0 in the UB Open finals … brought home fifth place at the prestigious Midlands Tournament, going 4-2 … decisioned tenth-ranked Ryan Mango of Stanford in the fifth place match, and also won by fall at 5:30 over ninth-ranked Steven Keith of Harvard.

Enjoyed an outstanding redshirt campaign, finishing with a 26-6 record at 133 lbs. and placing in six tournaments, including a pair of first place finishes ... had 4 falls, 10 technical falls and 6 major decisions ... place first at both the Michigan State Open and Cleveland State Open ... dominated at MSU?Open, with fall, technical fall and two major decisions in his four wins ... went 5-0 in the Cleveland State Open with a fall and a pair of major decisions ... took third place at the UB?Open, defeating teammate Mitchell Port in the consolation championship, 11-3, and was also third at the National Collegiate Open ... captured fourth place at the prestigious Nittany Lion Open, going 3-2 ... lost to Port 7-5 ... had a fall, technical fall and two major decisions ... maybe most impressive showing came at Southern Scuffle, as he finished fifth with a 6-2 record ... wins included a 6-4 decision over teammate Eric Morril, who was a national qualifier last year, plus a 13-5 major decision over 14th-ranked Kelly Kubec of Oregon State ... lost by decision to 11th-ranked Kyle Hutter of Old Dominion in the previous bout.

A four-time PIAA place winner for head coach Blair Packer at Tyrone Area High School … won the 135 lbs. Class AA championship as a senior thanks to a 4-2 decision over Luke Frey of Montoursville High School … that capped a perfect 42-0 season with 29 falls … also finished second twice at the PIAA’s, at 119 lbs. as a junior and at 103 lbs. as a freshman … as a junior dropped a 4-3 decision to Anthony Zanetta of Keystone Oaks High School in the finals … that was his lone loss of the season as he finished at 39-1 … as a freshman ended the year at 40-4, losing the 103 lb. final to Frank Martellotti of Shady Side Academy by a 4-3 decision … came in fifth at 112 lbs. as a sophomore to end the year with a 39-6 ledger … ended his career with a 160-11 record and broke the school record for pins with 94, breaking the record of Terry Tate, who went on to wrestle at Edinboro … finished sixth at the 2009 NHSCA Junior Nationals at 119 lbs. and was fourth at 112 lbs. at the 2008 NHSCA Sophomore Nationals … was ranked 67th in InterMat’s top 100 as a senior.
