Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks/Recruiting Coordinator
3rd Year
Eastern Illinois ‘08

Chris Limbach joined the Edinboro staff in 2016 as the offensive coordinator, and he has enjoyed two record-breaking seasons in his first two campaigns.  He begins 2018 as the assistant head coach while also once again working with the quarterbacks. He also serves as the recruiting coordinator.

Limbach’s first Edinboro squad showcased a high-flying aerial attack that led to a school-record seven games with 40-or-more points, including two games of 60-or-more points. Edinboro ranked tenth in NCAA Division II and third in the PSAC in scoring offense at 41.5 ppg. The Fighting Scots set school records for points scored (457), yards passing (3,789), pass attempts (549), pass completions (303), touchdowns passing (42), scoring offense (41.5 ppg.), and total offense per game (433.2 ypg.).

The records continued to fall in 2017. Edinboro set a school record for total offense with 826 yards in a 69-20 win this past season. The Fighting Scots averaged over 400 total yards per game for the second year in a row (427.0 ypg.) while featuring a balanced attach that showcase the talents of running back Walter Fletcher and wide receiver James Clark. Fletcher set the school record for yards rushing in a season with 1,740, while Clark broke the single-season record for receiving yards (1,213 yards) while catching a school record 95 passes. Both earned All-American honors, with Fletcher an Associated Press second team All-American.

At the controls was quarterback Jake Sisson. Under Limbach’s tutelage, Sisson departed with the third-most passing yards in school history (8,313) while ranking second in career touchdown passes (85).

Prior to joining the Edinboro staff, Limbach served as the offensive line coach at Division III Centre College since 2012. He was also the recruiting coordinator for the Colonels.  Centre was 31-10 during his four seasons.

Under Limbach’s leadership, Centre’s offensive line enjoyed tremendous success both as a group and individually. Centre’s offensive line paved the way for 1,000-yard rushers his last three seasons, first by Harry Meisner in 2013, then by All-Southern Athletic Association running back Nolan Coulter in 2014 and 2015.  Prior to that, the Colonels’ last 1,000-yard rusher was in 1995.  Limbach coached six first team All-SAA honorees, including a year ago, along with a second team honoree.

The Limbach-led offensive line helped Centre set single-season offensive records his last three years. In 2015, the Colonels set a new program record for yards in a season (4,991) and total offense per game (499.1), breaking records set the previous two years. Centre finished with an 8-2 record last season, averaging a conference-leading 235.1 rushing yards per game and 37.9 ppg. The Colonels rushed for at least 200 yards in five games.

Centre ranked 16th in Division III in total offense in 2015, and was 27th in rushing offense. In 2014, the Colonels won all ten regular season contests to qualify for the NCAA Division III Playoffs, losing to John Carroll in the first round for a 10-1 finish. The ten wins tied the school record, as Centre won its first Southern Atlantic Association title. They averaged 37.4 points, 440.1 ypg., and 237.2 yards rushing.

12094Limbach joined Centre after coaching in 2011 at Division II Oklahoma Panhandle State University, where he was the associate head coach/offensive coordinator/offensive line coach. Prior to that, he was a graduate assistant at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette where he worked with the offensive line from 2008 to 2010.

While at Louisiana-Lafayette, the Ragin’ Cajuns finished seventh in the nation in rushing offense with 263.7 yards per game in 2008, along with 13th in the country in total offense at 449.2 yards per game. The 2009 Cajun offensive line gave up only 13 sacks on the season.

Limbach also spent time on the staff at Eastern Illinois, his alma mater, as a student assistant from 2004-07.  The Panthers won back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference championships in 2005 and 2006, and participated in the FCS National Playoffs for three seasons from 2005-2007.

Limbach graduated from Eastern Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in History in 2008. He completed work on his master’s degree in Communications from Louisiana-Lafayette in 2015. A native of Edwardsville, Ill., he and his wife, Kim, live in Edinboro with their son, Michael, who was born October 12, 2015, and daughter, Abigail, born on September 8, 2017.
