Lorenzo Hoff is in his third year as a member of the Edinboro coaching staff, but his first as a full-time staff member. He spent his first two years as a graduate assistant coach, but despite that status was entrusted with coaching the defensive backs. He will continue to oversee the members of the secondary while also serving as the Director of Player Development/Strength & Conditioning Liaison.
Under Hoff's tutelage, the secondary excelled in the last two years. He has served as a tutor to cornerback Zuril Hendrick and strong safety Brandon Anderson, with Hendrick earning multiple All-American honors as a senior while breaking the school record for career interceptions.Hendrick was a second team Don Hansen Football Gazette All-American and D2CCA All-American, along with honorable mention D2Football.com All-American honors. Anderson earned honorable mention Don Hansen Football Gazette All-American accolades. Both Hendrick and Anderson were first team All-PSAC West honorees. Edinboro led the PSAC and ranked fifth in Division II in interceptions with 19 in 2018, along with first and fourth, respectively, in turnovers gained.  Â

In 2017, with Hendrick leading Division II in interceptions and earning All-American honors. Anderson was a first team All-PSAC West selection while Hendrick earned second team accolades.
In 2017, the Edinboro defense ranked seventh in Division II in interceptions (20) and 10th in takeaways (30). The Fighting Scots allowed 231 ypg. through the air in 2017 after giving up 294 per game the year before. That figure went down to 213.3 ypg. in 2018.
Hoff previously served as graduate assistant at Towson University a year ago. He worked in quality control for the Tigers, while also assisting with the wide receivers. He also worked closely with the scout teams and breaking down opponents’ game films.
From January to May 2016, Hoff served as defensive backs coach for Nike Epic 7 Atlantic in Chantilly, Va. Prior to that, he spent a year as a sports performance coach at The Sport and Speed Institute in Chantilly.Among others, he worked with Devin Fuller from UCLA, who went on to be drafted by the Atlanta Falcons, and Kennan Reynolds, Navy’s former standout quarterback who was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens.
Hoff also spent the 2015 season serving as the defensive backs coach at Hayfield High School in Alexandria, Va.
Hoff played for Liberty University from 2011-13, where he was a defensive back. He was a member of two Big South Conference championship teams, in 2012 and 2013. In 2015, the Flames’ defense ranked 15th in the country in total defense.
A native of Bowie, Md., Hoff played as a prepster at DuVal High School, where he was a standout as a running back, wide receiver, and defensive back.Â
Hoff graduated from Liberty in December 2014 with a bachelor of science degree in Exercise Science-Fitness Specialist. He completed work on his master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Edinboro in May 2019. He is single and resides in Edinboro.
