Former area football standout Matt Cragg returns to the area to serve as an assistant coach at Edinboro in 2017.  Cragg will work alongside Lorenzo Hoff as an assistant defensive backs coach.

Cragg completed his career as a member of the Hobart football team in 2016. While playing for his uncle, Mike Cragg, he was a captain as a senior, helping the Statesmen to a 9-2 record and a berth in the NCAA?Division III playoffs.

He was a two-time All-Liberty League selection, earning second team honors in 2016 and honorable mention accolades in 2014. A year ago, he started all 11 games at safety, finishing the season with 52 tackles, good for fifth on the team.

All told, Cragg started 28 games while playing in 36 games. He was a three-year starter and four-year letterwinner. Hobart made the NCAA?Division III playoffs three of his four seasons, and ended with a 38-7 record during that period. The 2014 squad finished with a 12-1 record, reaching the Division II quarterfinals.

Cragg was a former standout at Corry High School for head coach Homer Delattre. He set school records for rushing yards in a season and touchdowns in a season, and was named the Region 4 Player of the Year as a senior.
