Prior to Edinboro: Attended Mayfield High School where he competed in swimming for 4 years and was also part of the Marching Band for 4 years, earning letters for both. Two-time conference champion in the 100 breaststroke and 4 time top three conference finisher in the 100 Butterfly. Earned the athletic scholar award all 4 years.
