Kara Foster is in her second season as the assistant coach for the Edinboro cross country team, and also serves as an assistant with the track & field program. She assists with the cross country and distance event areas. She previously coached for three seasons at her alma mater, Penn State.
As an undergraduate at Penn State, she was a member of the track & field/cross country team and was a three-time Big Ten champion over 5,000-meters and 10,000-meters. She set the Penn State all-time record for 10,000-meters. Following her college career, she competed professionally, setting personal records of 15:48.42 (5,000-meters), 32:37.19 (10,000-meters), and 1:13.06 (half-marathon).
Foster graduated from Penn State in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. She is married to Fighting Scots' head coach, Ryan Foster.
