A three-time national qualifier who earned All-American honors for the first time a year ago with a fifth place finish at 184 lbs... comes into the year ranked fifth at 184 lbs. in every national poll, but will move up to 197 lbs. this year, where he will challenge for a national championship ... will not be a “big” 197 pounder but is extremely strong and should be very active for the weight class  ... enters his final campaign with a 90-20 career record, ranking 25th in career wins ... redshirted in 2009-10 and then missed the first month of last season due to offseason shoulder surgery ... two-time Ohio state champion at renowned St. Edward’s(Oh.) High School who was one of the jewels of the 2007 recruiting class and has not disappointed ... ranked fifth by Wrestling USA at 189 lbs. as a high school senior.

2010-11
Was named the EWL and PSAC Wrestler of the Year after earning All-American honors for the first time with a fifth place finish at 184 lbs... ended the year with a 31-2 record, with four falls, a pair of technical falls, and eight major decisions ... entered Nationals as the number one seed with a perfect 26-0 record ... won his first two matches -- an 8-2 decision over Brice Arand of Oregon State and a 9-2 decision over Navy’s Luke Rebertus -- before falling in the quarterfinals to Quentin Wright of Penn State, the ninth seed, by a 7-3 score ... Wright would go on to win national championship ... won his next two matches, a 4-3 decision against tenth-seed Josh Ihnen of Nebraska and a 6-5 decision against the fourth seed, Wisconsin’s Travis Rutt, to reach the consolation semifinals ... suffered a 12-0 loss to Cornell’s Scott Bosak, the number three seed, but came back to capture fifth place thanks to a medical forfeit over fifth-seeded Joe LeBlanc of Wyoming ... his biggest win prior to Nationals was a 7-2 decision over Bosak in the finals of the Southern Scuffle to win for the second straight year ... captured his second EWL title with a 7-2 decision over 20th-ranked Max Thomusseit of Pittsburgh ... also captured his second PSAC championship with a 12-4 major decision over 20th-ranked Nate Graham of Bloomsburg ... began the year ranked fourth by InterMat and Amateur Wrestling News. 

2009-10
Redshirted ... went 26-1 while competing in open events at 184 lbs... took home championships in five different events, along with a second place finish at the Nittany Lion Open ... lone setback was a 9-8 decision to 14th-ranked Dave Erwin of Penn State in the finals ... knocked off fellow Nittany Lion Quentin Wright, who also redshirted last year, 6-5, in the semifinals ... won the championship at the Southern Scuffle with a 7-5 decision over third-ranked Dustin Kilgore after defeating 16th-ranked Steve Bosak of Cornell, 5-2,  in the semifinals ... also took first place in the UB Open, the CSU Open, the EMU Open and the Michigan State Open.     

2008-09
Finished with a 33-8 record with 3 technical falls and 7 major decisions while competing at 184 lbs... went 3-2 in second trip to Nationals, including an 8-6 upset of fifth-seeded Dustin Kilgore of Kent State ... losses came to seventh-seed Doug Umbelhauer of Rider (5-1) and to ninth-seed Joe LeBlanc of Wisconsin (7-2) ... won first EWL crown with 5-4 decision over Pittsburgh’s Zac Thomusseit in the finals ... also claimed first PSAC championship with a 10-3 win over Clint Podish of Clarion ... turned in outstanding performance at Reno Tournament with first place showing ... won all five matches, including wins over a pair of ranked opponents ... in semifinals, defeated 19th-ranked John Barone of Duke, 12-2, and in finals bested LeBlanc, who was ranked tenth, via 4-1 decision ... took home sixth place at Southern Scuffle after suffering an injury in wrestlebacks ... injury defaulted one match, and gave up a medical forfeit in fifth place match ... seven of eight losses came to nationally-ranked opponents.

2007-08
Earned a trip to Nationals at 184 lbs. as a true freshman after taking over as the starter midway through the year … ended the year ranked 18th by WIN Magazine and 19th by Amateur Wrestling News … was named the Rookie of the Year by both the EWL and PSAC … finished with a 26-10 record with 4 falls and 6 major decisions … went 1-2 at Nationals, defeating Brown’s Matt Gevelinger, 4-0, before being eliminated by a 5-3 decision to Zach Giesen of Stanford … took over as the starter after a strong showing at the Southern Scuffle, taking home third place … went 8-1 in that tourney, including an 11-3 decision over 18th-ranked Josh Haines of Maryland and a 5-3 win over North Carolina State’s Ryan Goodman, who was ranked 20th … earned trip to Nationals with a second place finish at the EWL Tournament, suffering a 10-8 loss to West Virginia’s Kurt Brenner in the finals … also finished sixth at the Nittany Lion Open and was third at the Michigan State Open (freshman and sophomore division).

High School
Enjoyed an illustrious two-year career at high school powerhouse St. Edward’s, where he wrestled for head coach Greg Urbas, after competing his first two years at North Andover (Mass.) High School ... won the Ohio state championship as a senior at 189 lbs., winning by fall to complete a perfect 39-0 season as the Eagles won their 11th straight state title ... won three of his four matches at states by fall ... had 20 falls as a senior ... won five tournaments, including sectionals and districts, along with the Ironman Tournament, where he was named the Outstanding Wrestler ... a four-time state placewinner, two in Massachusetts and two in Ohio, and won sectionals and districts all four years ... as a junior, placed third at Ohio state championships while wrestling at 189 lbs.... won Massachusetts state championship at 189 lbs. as sophomore while competing for North Andover, ending with a 44-3 record with 35 falls ... was named MIAA regional outstanding wrestler in 2005 ... was Massachusetts state runner-up as a freshman at 171 lbs., finishing 32-1, with lone loss in title match ... had a career record of 154-10 ... was a member of the 2007 Ohio All-Star Team vs. “Wrestling USA“ Dream Team ... member of 2006 Junior National Team.
