Emerged as one of the top true freshman in Division I wrestling while starting at 184 lbs… was named the Eastern Wrestling League Freshman of the Year, and was also named to the 2017 Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Team and The Open Mat.com’s All-Freshman Team … finished the year with a 31-10 record with 2 falls, a team-leading 8 technical falls, and 5 major decisions … had an 11-4 record in duals … was the EWL champion at 184 lbs., earning a trip to the NCAA Division I National Championships … went into Nationals as the 14th seed, and finished at 2-2 … posted a 17-0 technical fall (5:62) over Zach Nevills of Stanford in his first NCAA match, before losing by fall to third-seed Sammy Brooks of Iowa in the second round … came back with a 3-0 decision over Hunter Ritter of Wisconsin in his next match, but had the misfortune of facing another top seed in his second consolation bout, losing to Myles Martin of Ohio State, the sixth seed, by a 12-3 score … won all three of his matches at the EWL Championships, including a 6-3 decision in the finals over Cleveland State's Nick Corba … also won his first PSAC title with a 5-3 decision over Clarion's Scott Marmoll … placed fourth at the Southern Scuffle and won the Southeast Open championship in the freshman/sophomore division … went 5-2 at the Scuffle, losing to top-ranked Gabe Dean of Cornell and falling in the third place match to Chattanooga’s Bryce Carr via a 5-2 decision … picked up a pair of wins over nationally-ranked wrestlers at the Scuffle, winning over 15th-ranked Drew Foster of Northern Iowa and 17th-ranked Chip Ness of North Carolina … in first collegiate tournament, finished first at the Southeast Open (freshman & sophomore division), winning all four of his matches … at PSAC Championships, won three of his four matches by bonus points.

HIGH SCHOOL
A three-time PIAA place-winner for head coach Kevin Hesson at Franklin Area High School … finished career with a 145-13 record, with one state championship and two third-place finishes … was the top-ranked high school wrestler in the country at 182 lbs. for much of his year, according to InterMat … was the Class AA state champion at 182 lbs. as a junior, finishing with a 37-1 record following a 10-3 decision over Corey Hazel of Penns Valley in the finals … became Franklin’s second PIAA champion, joining former Edinboro standout Cory Ace … win avenged his only loss of the season, a 4-3 decision to Hazel … won the Northwest Regional title and was the District 10 champion … after junior year won the FLO Wrestling “Who’s No.1? Tournament” … posted a 41-1 record as a senior, winning his third regional and district titles, and finishing third at 182 lbs. … suffered lone loss of season in semifinals, a 3-1 loss in sudden victory to Garrett Hoffman of Montoursville, but came vack to capture third with a 4-1 decision over Luke Funck … as a sophomore, captured third place at 170 lbs. at the Class AA Championships, finishing with a 39-3 record …. won a 3-1 decision over Fairfield’s Nick Mort in the third place match … qualified for the state championships after winning the District 10 championship and coming in second at the Northwest Regional … dropped a 6-2 decision to Kane’s Evan Delong in the finals, with Delong going on to win the state championship … finished with a 28-8 record as a freshman while competing at 152 lbs. … was sixth at the District 10 Championships.
