Wrestled at 174 and 184 lbs., ending the year with a 13-11 record with a fall, 3 technical falls and 3 major decisions … filled in at 184 lbs. for injured starter Vic Avery at 184 lbs., finishing 0-6 with three of the losses to nationally-ranked wrestlers … won the 174 lb. championship at the Purple Raider Open, going 4-0 with a technical fall and major decision … placed second at the MSU Open (freshman & sophomore division) at 174 lbs. with a 4-1 record, losing to teammate Patrick Jennings 5-3 in the finals … went 2-2 at the Midlands Championships at 174 lbs.

Wrestled for head coach Rob Waddington at Frewsburg High School … in six-year career compiled a 229-36 record and was a two-time New York state place-winner … competed at 170 lbs. as a senior, finishing second in the Division II state title match … dropped a 3-2 decision to Zack Zupan of Canastota to finish the year at 44-1 … in 2010-11 he reached the 160 lb. semifinals before finishing third … went 4-1 at the state championships, defeating Phillip Clarke of Copenhagen 6-3 in the third place match … was a state qualifier at 152 lbs. in 2009-10, winning the Section VI Class A title and being named the Co-Outstanding Wrestler … as a senior he wrestled in the AAU National Wrestling Duals at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex … was part of a team called the New York Kong, and posted an 11-0 record at 170 lbs. to earn All-American status … he won nine matches by major decision, one by pin and one by technical fall … was also a standout in baseball and football … a four-year starter in baseball and three-year regular in football.
