Matt Niland enters his first season as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program in 2025-26.  He arrives after serving as a graduate assistant at Illinois State University, where he was part of the Redbirds’ 22–14 season that concluded with a CBI Championship.

Prior to beginning his coaching career, Niland competed for five seasons at Penn State Behrend, where he helped the program secure two regular-season championships and contributed to a 71–40 overall record during his career.
