This week’s Fighting Scots Male Athlete of the Week is redshirt freshman Michael DePalma (Jeannette, PA/Jeannette). Michael opened the wrestling season as Edinboro’s lone champion at the UB Invite on Sunday, defeating teammate Dave Habat in the finals at 149 lbs. Michael posted a win by fall at 4:16 after starting out the day unseeded. He went 5-0 on Sunday with upsets over two seeded wrestlers. He defeated Javier Rodriguez of Army by fall at 2:51, John Northrup of UB by major decision, 15-1; Alex Cisneros of Finger Lakes Wrestling Club by major decision, 8-0; then won over Daniel Young of Army by decision, 10-7, in the semifinals before defeating Habat in the finals.
