Jenny Wirth was appointed Edinboro’s interim women's lacrosse coach in late January 2018, becoming the third coach of the program. Wirth, a former standout for the Fighting Scots, replaced Caitlin Formato, who resigned to accept an assistant coaching position at Canisius.
 
"We're pleased to have Jenny back in the Edinboro program," related Director of Athletics Bruce Baumgartner upon her appintment. "This all transpired quickly and we were fortunate that a candidate of her quality was available. With the students returning to campus, it was important that there was a seamless transition for the members of our lacrosse team. The fact that Jenny graduated from Edinboro and is familiar with the University is an added bonus."
 
Wirth looks forward to assuming her duties at Edinboro. "I would like to thank Bruce BaumgartnerTodd Jay, President Walker, and the rest of the athletic administration staff involved in this decision for providing me with this opportunity to return to my alma mater as the Interim Head Women's Lacrosse Coach," she commented. "I am excited for all that the upcoming season has to offer with the Fighting Scots."
 
Wirth served as an assistant coach at Shippensburg University last year. She assisted head coach Nicole Miller with the team's game-day preparations and provided assistance with practice duties as well as recruitment and scouting. She also served as a student-athlete academic advisor, leading to a team-best GPA of 3.34 for the spring 2017 semester.
 
The Raiders finished with a 7-9 record a year ago. She coached three All-PSAC performers, with two players setting school records.

Wirth also worked as a sports performance coach at Power Train Sports & Fitness in Carlisle, Pa. She is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach (USAW-L1SP). Wirth is also certified as a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer.   
 
In addition to her role at Shippensburg, Wirth served as the coach of the Lanco Elite Lacrosse Club and Xtreme Lacrosse Club in Lancaster, Pa., and was an assistant coach for the Pittsburgh Premier Lacrosse Club. She also served as the head junior varsity girl's lacrosse coach at Peter's Township High School in 2015.

Among her extensive work experience in strength and conditioning includes service as a sports performance coach at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, where she developed personalized programs for athletes of all ages. Wirth also assisted in occupational therapy at the UPMC Centers for Rehab Services and worked as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Pittsburgh.
 
Wirth was a four-year letter-winner from 2011-14 at Edinboro. She played in 59 career games, primarily in the midfield, and totaled 47 goals and 95 draw controls. Her top season came as a senior in 2014 when she started all 16 matches and finished with 24 goals. She added 17 goals as a junior.
 
A standout in the classroom, as well, she was a four-year Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athlete and a two-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll recipient.
 
A native of Pittsburgh and a graduate of Baldwin High School, Wirth graduated magna cum laude from Edinboro in 2014 with a bachelor of science degree in Health and Physical Education – Human Performance while also obtaining a minor in Athletic Coaching. She is single and resides in Edinboro.
