Spikers Fall at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA -- Despite 16 kills and 12 digs from freshman Marah Maycock, the Edinboro volleyball team dropped a match at Slippery Rock 3-1 on Friday night. 
 
After dropping the first set 25-17, Edinboro (8-17, 5-7 PSAC) rallied to take set two 25-22.  The third set went to Slippery Rock (14-11, 7-5 PSAC) 25-18.  The fourth set was a wild one but eventually Slippery Rock pulled ahead for good at 28-26. 
 
Katie Felix set another career-high in assists with 40, topping her old mark of 39 set on Tuesday night against Notre Dame (Oh.).  Megan Branchick played well for the Fighting Scots, finishing with 9 kills and one block.  Maria Concheck and Tabitha Meeks each tallied seven kills.  Haley Marett notched 17 digs, Christina Furda had 11 and Meeks added eight.  
 
The Rock had three players all finish with double-digit kills.  Shelby Obitts led with 12, while Sarah Cadwallader and Caroline Houston each had 11.  Hannah McShea totaled 26 digs for Slippery Rock with Alexandra Fleagle finishing with 14.
 
Up next for Edinboro is a trip to Clarion, who dropped a 3-0 decision to Gannon Friday night.  That match is slated to begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 20.
