EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball squad dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting West Chester on Friday evening inside McComb Fieldhouse. Edinboro dropped the first two sets by scores of 25-13, 25-13, and was leading much of the third set, but West Chester was able to outlast the young Fighting Scots, eventually taking home a 25-20 victory, giving the Golden Rams a 3-0 win.
Edinboro (5-13, 3-4) was led by
Tabitha Meeks, who recorded eight kills and eight digs.
Breanna Gardner finished with six kills and one block while
Marah Maycock and
Maria Concheck each finished with five kills. Maycock added five digs and Concheck pitched in a block.
Haley Marett once again led the defense, finishing with 15 digs.
Erin Schatzle also had 15 assists for the Fighting Scots.
Leading the way for West Chester (11-10, 2-5) was Cara Reese, who finished with nine kills on 18 attempts, giving her a .500 hitting average. Reese was also a monster on defense, finishing with 3.5 blocks. Lexi Kegerise added eight kills and 16 digs while Mary Faust notched seven kills, nine digs, and 16 assists.
Edinboro returns to action tomorrow for two games against PSAC East foes. At noon, the Fighting Scots take on Cheyney and at 3 p.m. they face Kutztown. Both games will be inside McComb Fieldhouse.
