Box Score (New/Sortable Format) AMHERST, NY (Oct. 9, 2012) – The Edinboro University volleyball team traveled to Amherst, New York to face Daemen College Tuesday evening. Despite six kills apiece from
Breanna Gardner,
Tabitha Meeks, and
Megan Branchick, the Fighting Scots dropped the match 3-0.
Edinboro (7-14, 5-4 PSAC West) came on strong in the first set, but it was not enough as they fell 25-20. They dropped the second set 25-18 and were unable to force extra sets as they fell in the third set 25-12.
Leading the way for Edinboro were Gardner, Meeks and Branchick. Meeks collected 10 digs and two blocks to go with her six kills. Gardner and Branchick each finished with one block to compliment their six kills.
Marah Maycock added four kills, 11 digs, and one block.
Erin Schatzle and
Katie Felix both saw time at the setter position, with Schatzle earning 12 assists and Felix 10 assists.
Defensively,
Maria Concheck, who totaled six blocks on the night, led Edinboro.
Haley Marett added 20 digs and
Christina Furda tallied five.
Edinboro hits the road again, this time to rival Gannon on Friday Oct. 12, for a 7 p.m. match against the Golden Knights. The Fighting Scots then welcome Mercyhurst to McComb Fieldhouse Saturday Oct. 13 for a PSAC West battle starting at 3 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 13 will be Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Edinboro University with activities slated throughout the day including a football game at noon against Indiana (Pa.), the volleyball match at 3 p.m., and a soccer match at 6:30 p.m., also against Indiana (Pa.). Donations will be collected at each event throughout the day.
