(Nov. 10, 2012) – The Edinboro volleyball squad took a match from Slippery Rock 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in McComb Fieldhouse on the campus of Edinboro University. Edinboro had a big day hitting, putting up 63 kills and finishing with a .260 (63K, 24E, 150TA) hitting percentage.
Edinboro dominated Slippery Rock in the first two sets, winning 25-19 and 25-18 respectively. Slippery Rock wouldn't go away however, and clawed their way back to take set three 25-18. The fourth set was extremely close, with both teams exchanging the lead on several occasions, but Edinboro proved to be too much for Slippery Rock as they took the set 25-23 and the match 3-1.
Katie Felix eclipsed her previous career-high of 40 assists with a 48 assist effort.
Tabitha Meeks and
Megan Branchick each totaled 15 kills. Freshmen
Marah Maycock and
Maria Concheck both added 11 kills for the Fighting Scots.
Haley Marett led the defense with 30 digs while Maycock finished with 17 and Meeks with 15. Meeks' 15 kills put her over 300 on the season while Maycock's 11 put her just three away from the 300 mark.
Edinboro concludes the season with an 11-22 overall record including 7-12 in the PSAC. After losing nine in a row, they were able to take their last three matches, including a win over Clarion, who is ranked 4
th in the Atlantic Region.
