EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 15, 2013) – Edinboro rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat visiting Daemen a 3-2 defeat on Tuesday night in a non-conference volleyball match. The victory snapped a four-match losing streak for the Fighting Scots, who improved to 13-9 overall. The loss dropped Daemen to 8-9.
Edinboro won the first set, 25-21, but lost the next two by scores of 25-22 and 25-15. They staved off elimination with a 25-19 win in the fourth set, then won by a 15-11 score in the fifth set.
The Fighting Scots would jump out to an 8-2 lead, only to see the Wildcats pull to within two points at 11-9 on a block.
Marah Maycock stopped a run of three straight Daemen points with a kill, and
Maria Concheck followed with back-to-back kills for a 14-9 lead. Daemen would score the next two points to make it 14-11, but the Edinboro bench erupted when a Daemen kill attempt was long for the deciding point.
Maycock paced the Boro with 19 kills, adding nine digs.
Tabitha Meeks contributed 17 kills.
Katie Felix finished with 42 assists and nine digs.
Haley Marett had a team-high 21 digs.
Edinboro returns to action this weekend, playing in PSAC Crossover action on Friday, October 18 at Lock Haven and on Saturday, October 19 at Pitt-Johnstown. The Fighting Scots face Millersville and Lock Haven on Friday, then oppose Pitt-Johnstown and Shippensburg the next day.
