Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa (October 22, 2013) - The Edinboro volleyball team won their second straight match with a 3-2 (20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 24-26, 17-15) victory over Point Park Tuesday night at McComb Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots improved to 9-5 on the season in non-conference contests with the win over the NAIA Pioneers.
Edinboro moves to 15-12 overall on the year, while Point Park dropped to 18-14.
After the Pioneers came out on top in the opening set by a score of 25-20, the Fighting Scots used 15 kills to earn a 25-23 victory in the second set. Edinboro and Point Park split the next two games, before the Scots captured a 17-15 triumph in the fifth set for the non-conference win.
Trailing 15-14 in the fifth set, the Fighting Scots staved off elimination on a kill by
Megan Branchick to knot the score at 15 apiece. After a Point Park hitting error, Branchick recorded another kill to seal the 17-15 victory for Edinboro.
Branchick led the Fighting Scots with 18 kills and
Marah Maycock added 11.
Haley Marett led four Scots with double-digit digs with 31. Branchick and
Tabitha Meeks added 12 apiece.
Katie Felix had 11 digs to go along with 43 assists on the night.
Roxanne Grundmeier paced the Pioneers with 14 kills, followed by Nicole Wurstle with 12. Cara Bradley recorded 41 assists and Olivia Fisher added 23 digs.
Edinboro returns to action on Friday Oct. 25, travelling to Indiana (Pa.) for a 7 p.m. match.
