Volleyball Team Drops Match at IUP, 3-1

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) INDIANA, Pa. (October 25, 2013) – The Edinboro volleyball team fell to host IUP by a score of 3-1 (21-25, 23-25, 26-24, 13-25) on Friday, October 25, 2013 in Indiana, PA. The Fighting Scots move to 15-13 overall and 6-8 in the PSAC, while the Crimson Hawks improve to 9-17 on the season and 5-9 in conference play.

IUP edged Edinboro in the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-23. Facing a 24-23 match-point deficit in the third set, Maria Concheck and Megan Branchick each recorded kills to give Edinboro a 25-24 lead. A setting error by IUP on the next play gave the Fighting Scots the 26-24 set victory.

The Crimson Hawks came out strong in the fourth game, earning a 25-13 triumph and the PSAC match win. IUP has won five out of its last six matches with tonight's victory.

Branchick paced Edinboro with 16 kills on the night. Haley Marett posted a game-high 27 digs, while Branchick and Katie Felix each added 10 digs. Felix also had 33 assists, and tabbed a .538 hitting percentage with seven kills.

Stephanie Kruzynski led IUP with 13 kills followed by Lisa Kissell with 12 and Ericka Lentz with 11. Lentz also had 21 digs, while Kelly Barnes posted 20 digs. Lindsay Moeller recorded a game-high 48 assists for the Crimson Hawks.  

Edinboro returns to action tomorrow on the road at Clarion. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. Follow live stats of the match here.
