Scots Drop Road Match to Slippery Rock

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2013) – The Edinboro volleyball team fell in a four-game contest to host Slippery Rock on Tuesday night. The Fighting Scots came out of the gate with a 25-22 victory in the first game, before the Rock took the next three sets (22-25, 13-25, 19-25) to earn the PSAC victory.

Edinboro moves to 12-7 on the year with a 5-2 record in the PSAC, while Slippery Rock improves to 9-11 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

Jen Gruber and Megan Branchick posted five kills apiece in the first set to lead the Fighting Scots to a 25-22 win. Edinboro used a total of 17 kills, 15 coming off assists from Katie Felix, along with a .351 hitting percentage to roll past the Rock in game one.  

Slippery Rock squeaked by the Fighting Scots in the second set, 25-22, before winning two straight games by scores of 25-13 and 25-19 to seal their fourth PSAC victory of the year.

Marah Maycock paced the Edinboro attack with 11 kills, with Branchick adding 10. Felix posted 40 assists, while Haley Marett fronted the Fighting Scot defensive effort with 24 digs.

Kristy Lake led the Rock with 14 kills and a .400 hitting percentage on the night. Janna Reilly also added 23 assists for Slippery Rock.

The Fighting Scots return to action on Friday night to host California (Pa.). Game time for the PSAC West matchup with the Vulcans is slated for 7 p.m. from McComb Fieldhouse.
