Edinboro as High as Seventh in National Rankings, Mines Debuts at 125 lbs.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Nov. 20, 2013) – The Edinboro wrestling team is ranked as high as seventh in the latest NCAA Division I rankings, while as many as six wrestlers show up in the various individual rankings.  The Fighting Scots are ranked seventh in WIN's Tournament Power Index.  They are 12th in the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Coaches Poll, and also ranked 12th according to InterMat and WrestlingReport.com.
               
Penn State holds down the top spot in three of the four nationals.  Iowa is ranked first in WIN's rankings.  The Hawkeyes are second in InterMat's poll and fourth in the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Coaches Poll and WrestlingReport.com rankings.  Iowa will visit McComb Fieldhouse on Thursday, December 5.
               
Mitchell Port is Edinboro's highest ranked wrestler.  The junior is ranked second at 141 lbs. after finishing there at Nationals last year.  He has a 3-0 record, missing the dual at Virginia Tech due to an injury.
Junior Dave Habat jumped up in the 149 lb. rankings after upsetting then fifth-ranked Zach Neibert of Virginia Tech 10-7. He is ranked third by WIN, eighth by InterMat and WrestlingReport, and ninth by Amateur Wrestling News.   He improved to 7-1.
               
Fellow junior A.J. Schopp is also ranked in the top ten at 133 lbs.  He is fifth according to WrestlingReport, and seventh in the other three rankings.  Schopp is a perfect 6-0.
               
Like Port, Vic Avery missed the Virginia Tech match due to injury. He is 0-1 at 184 lbs., losing his lone match by injury default at the Michigan State Open.  Avery, a sophomore, is sixth according to Amateur Wrestling News, eighth in the InterMat poll, tenth according to WIN, and 11th in WrestlingReport's rankings.

Kory Mines debuted in the 125 lb. rankings after handing VTU's Joey Dance a 4-2 defeat to improve to 5-1.  The junior is ranked 18th by WrestlingReport and 19th by Amateur Wrestling News and InterMat.

Ernest James completes Edinboro's list of ranked grapplers.  The senior has a 4-2 record and is 25th in WrestlingReport's heavyweight rankings.
