EDINBORO, Pa (November 4, 2013) – The Edinboro volleyball team returns home on Tuesday, November 5 to host PSAC-rival Slippery Rock at 7 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots will look to find the win column for the first time since October 22, when they defeated Point Park by a score of 3-2.
Edinboro comes into Tuesday's match with a 15-16 overall record and a 6-11 ledger in PSAC play. The Scots fell to Gannon in straight sets, 3-0 in their last contest on Saturday afternoon. Slippery Rock enters the match at 10-20 on the year, including a 5-12 mark in the conference. The Rock sits in last place in the PSAC West Standings having lost nine of its last ten matches.
Haley Marett remains atop the PSAC with 646 digs on the season.
Katie Felix ranks sixth in the conference with 923 assists.
Megan Branchick leads the Edinboro attack with 295 kills, closely followed by
Marah Maycock with 287.
Despite Edinboro being seventh and Slippery Rock eighth in the PSAC West Standings, both teams rank highly in several PSAC statistical categories. The Fighting Scots are second in the conference in kills with 1415 on the year, followed by Slippery Rock at third with 1322. The Rock paces all PSAC teams with 1978 digs on the season, while Edinboro ranks second with 1944. The Scots also sit in second in the conference with 1296 assists.
The Fighting Scots hold a 60-31 advantage over Slippery Rock in the two teams' all-time series. The Rock has closed the gap in recent years, winning three of the last five matches against Edinboro. Slippery Rock won the last meeting earlier this season on October 8 by a score of 3-1.
