EDINBORO, Pa. (November 7, 2013) – The Edinboro volleyball team heads back out onto the road this weekend for a pair of matches against two of the PSAC's top teams. The Fighting Scots travel to Seton Hill on Friday, November 8, before taking the trip to California (Pa.) on Saturday, November 9.
Edinboro comes into Friday's contest with a 16-16 overall record on the year, including a 7-11 mark in the PSAC. Seton Hill is 24-8 on the season and 12-6 in the conference. The Griffins currently sit at third place in the PSAC West Standings. California (Pa.) boasts an impressive 24-5 record and a 17-1 ledger in PSAC play. The Vulcans are tied atop the PSAC West with Clarion.
The Fighting Scots fell to both Seton Hill and California (Pa.) earlier this season. The visiting Vulcans defeated Edinboro 3-1 on October 11, before the Griffins outdueled the Scots in a close five-set match the very next day, 3-2.
Edinboro enters the weekend following a convincing 3-0 sweep over Slippery Rock on Tuesday night at McComb Fieldhouse. The win snapped a four-match losing streak for the Scots, while the victory also marked Edinboro's first three-game sweep since September 28 when Edinboro topped East Stroudsburg in straight sets.
Tabitha Meeks and
Megan Branchick led the Fighting Scots with 12 kills apiece.
Haley Marett posted 22 digs and
Katie Felix recorded a team-high 19 assists in the win over the Rock.
Marett still paces all PSAC players with 668 digs on the year. Felix ranks fifth in the conference with 942 total assists. Branchick leads Edinboro with 307 kills on the season, followed by
Marah Maycock with 293.
Friday's match at Seton Hill is set to begin at 7 p.m., while Saturday's contest at California is scheduled for 2 p.m.
