(November 9, 2013) – The Edinboro volleyball team dropped a PSAC West contest on the road to California (Pa.) by a score of 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 22-25, 18-25) on Saturday afternoon. The Vulcans remain tied with Clarion atop the PSAC West Standings with the victory. The Fighting Scots move to 16-18 overall with the loss, including a 7-13 mark in PSAC play. California (Pa.) improves to 26-5 on the season and 19-1 in conference action.
After the Vulcans captured the first set 25-20,
Megan Branchick and
Marah Maycock posted five kills apiece to push the Fighting Scots to a 25-20 win in the second set. California (Pa.) responded with a total of 27 kills in the third and fourth sets en route to 25-22 and 25-18 triumphs, respectively.
Megan Branchick led the Edinboro attack with 16 kills on the afternoon, followed by
Marah Maycock with 10.
Haley Marett fronted the Fighting Scot defensive effort with a game-high 23 digs, while
Tabitha Meeks added 17.
Katie Felix dished out a team-high 23 assists.
Mary Lavery paced the Vulcans with 17 kills and Abby Freund recorded 26 assists. A trio of Vulcans reached double-digit digs, led by Molly Delaney with 16.
Edinboro rounds out the 2013 season next weekend, hosting Clarion and Indiana (Pa.) at McComb Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots take on first-place Clarion on Friday, November 15 at 7 p.m., before hosting IUP on Saturday, November 16 at 3 p.m.
