CLARION, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball team won a pair of games Saturday afternoon over Concord and Goldey-Beacom at Clarion University's Tony Banner Invitational. The Fighting Scots defeated Concord 3-1, before sweeping Goldey-Beacom, 3-0 in the nightcap.
In the early game, Concord came out on top in the first set, 25-22. Trailing 13-11 in the second set, Edinboro scored 14 of the game's final 17 points, including eight in a row, to earn a 25-16 win. With the match tied at one game apiece, the Fighting Scots then won two consecutive games by scores of 25-22 and 25-23 to seal a 3-1 victory.
Edinboro received three outstanding individual performances against Concord, as Katie Felix recorded a triple-double, while Haley Marett and Tabitha Meeks each recorded double-doubles.
Felix posted 40 assists, 12 digs and 11 kills in the win. Marett had 27 digs and 11 assists, while Meeks recorded 15 kills and 13 digs.
Maria Concheck also added 10 kills for the Edinboro attack.
In the ladder match, the Fighting Scots used a balanced 15-man attack to roll over Goldey-Beacom, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-20).
Felix dished out 16 assists and Meeks posted 9 digs to lead Edinboro.
The Fighting Scots improved to 3-1 with the two victories on Saturday.
Edinboro returns to action Friday, September 13th to take on Alderson-Broaddus College in the University of Charleston Invitational. Game time is slated for 11:30 a.m. in Charleston.
