EDINBORO, Pa. (October 1, 2014) - The Edinboro women's soccer game continues its four-game road trip this weekend when it travels to Clarion and No. 24 Indiana (Pa.). The game with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for Friday, October 3 at 2:00 p.m. and the contest with the Crimson Hawks is at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4. The Fighting Scots enter with a 3-4-1 overall and PSAC record, while Clarion is 2-5-1 overall and in conference, and IUP sports a 6-1-2 overall record and 6-1-1 in the PSAC.
Liz Debo leads the way for Edinboro in scoring. The senior forward has tallied at least one point in each game of the Scots current three-game winning streak. Debo has scored two goals and recorded one assist for five points during that stretch. The two-time All-PSAC first team honoree has now recorded 33 career goals and 75 career points. The former is tied for third in school history, trailing the record by three goals, while the latter currently stands in sixth place and is 15 points from the record.
Meghan Kelly continues to rack up records for the Fighting Scots, as well. The senior goalkeeper holds the record for wins (34), shutouts (19), minutes (5476), and is second in saves (261). If she earns one more shutout she will be just the 12
th player in conference history to reach 20 for a career. Kelly holds a 3-4-1 record this season with a 1.08 goals against average and a 76.3 save percentage.
Clarion features a record-setting goalie, as well. Laura Saussol is coming off a shutout performance against Shippensburg in which she recorded 19 saves. It was the senior goalkeeper's 13
th career shutout, a new school record for the Golden Eagles. Saussol's 89.2 save percentage is the sixth best mark in the PSAC and her 74 saves is the conference's top mark by 25 saves.
Taylor Starr is the top goal scorer for Clarion. The freshman paces the team with two goals and one assist for five points. The Golden Eagles have not scored in four straight games.
The Crimson Hawks enter the weekend undefeated at home with a 3-0-1 record. Indiana (Pa.) has been led by a freshman and a senior on offense. Victoria Crawford and Brittney Kuhns have each totaled 10 points, two of only six players in the conference to achieve that mark so far. The freshman Crawford has four goals and two assists while Kuhns, a 2013 All-PSAC second team choice, has five goals.
Jessica Printz has been stellar in net for IUP. The sophomore goalkeeper's 89.3 save percentage is fourth in the PSAC while her three shutouts are tied for second.
Indiana (Pa.) plays Mansfield on Friday before facing Edinboro.
The Fighting Scots have never lost to the Golden Eagles boasting, a 15-0-3 record. Edinboro won 3-1 last year behind goals from
Becca Costello,
Alex Brown, and Debo. The Crimson Hawks hold a 15-10-1 advantage in the series with the Scots, but Edinboro has been the victor in the last five contests, including a 1-0 victory last year at IUP.
