Fighting Scots Remain Third in Most Recent USTFCCCA Atlantic Regional Rankings

USTFCCCA Regional Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La. (October 21, 2014) - The U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Association (USTFCCA) released this week's Men's Cross Country Regional Rankings and no changes occurred in the Atlantic Regional rankings. Edinboro ranks third in the region.

Lock Haven and Shippensburg stayed ranked ahead of Edinboro in first and second, respectively.

Slippery Rock followed Edinboro in fourth place while Indiana (Pa.) was fifth.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) has teams ranked one through nine in the Atlantic Region. Wheeling Jesuit is the only non-PSAC team ranked. The Mountain East Conference representative is tenth.

The Fighting Scots competed in the Wisconsin adidas Invitational last Friday. Renowned as possibly the top Division I meet in the country, the Fighting Scots competed in the men's open race on the Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Course. No team scores were kept, but several Fighting Scots finished among the top runners in the field of 85 runners, which was almost entirely Division I competition.

Matt Link led the Fighting Scots, as the senior took 20th place with a time of 25:09 over the 8K course. Junior Elliott Martynkiewicz was next, coming in 29th (25:28).
Edinboro will not return to action until the PSAC Championships at Mansfield on Saturday, November 8. The Fighting Scots are pursuing their third PSAC Championship in the last four seasons.
