PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Edinboro men's swimming team opened the dual portion of its season with a 130-66 triumph over Lake Erie on Saturday. The meet took place at the Spire Institute after the Fighting Scots competed in the Westminster Relays last night.
Micah Cattell and Joshua Beabout each came away with two wins plus a third in relay action. Cattell was the sprinter, as he won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.14, and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.22.
Cattell also swam a leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay team which included
Tony Romanini,
Brian Wilson, and
Justin Ransel,
Micah Cattell. The foursome combined for a time of 1:39.40.
Beabout had a much more grueling task as he won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:11.93, then came back to capture first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.15.
Beabout joined
Chad Murphy,
Nick Wilkinson, and
Luke Frederick to post a winning time of 1:32.92 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Romanini added a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (53.00), while Frederick won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.99).
Edinboro will return to action next Saturday, November 1 hosting Tiffin. The meet gets underway at 1 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse.
