The Fighting Scots, who come into Tuesday's game with a 13-5 overall record and a 6-3 mark in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play, have dropped three of their last four contests after winning ten consecutive matches.
Edinboro looks to bounce back against Daemen on Tuesday night, as the Wildcats own a 1-17 record in 2014 with their lone win coming in a 3-0 defeat over Mercy College in an East Coast Conference matchup on September 28.
The Fighting Scots most recently fell to host California (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-23). The Vulcans held off late Fighting Scot rallies in the first and third sets to secure the conference victory.
Jen Gruber led the Edinboro attack with nine kills, while
Sydney Trathen dished out a team-high 14 assists.
Challen Litwiler and
Haley Marett paced the Fighting Scots with 13 digs apiece, followed by
Katie Felix with 11 digs. Felix also added 12 assists on the day.
Gruber fronts the Edinboro attack with 155 kills and 2.54 kills per set on the season. Trathen leads the Fighting Scots with 432 assists, while
Haley Marett has tallied team-highs of 317 digs and 5.20 digs per set, the ladder figure good for sixth in the league.
Challen Litwiler paces the PSAC with 38 service aces, seven more than any other player in the conference.
Maria Concheck ranks sixth in the conference with 63 total blocks for the Fighting Scots.
Lindsay Nowak paces Daemen with 202 kills, 3.31 kills per set and 22 blocks. Katie McKrell leads the Wildcats with 342 assists, while Amber Drzymala has recorded a team-high 173 digs.
Edinboro rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat visiting Daemen last season, snapping a four-match losing streak for the Fighting Scots. Edinboro won the first set, 25-21, but lost the next two by scores of 25-22 and 25-15. They staved off elimination with a 25-19 win in the fourth set, then won by a 15-11 score in the fifth set.
Marah Maycock paced the Boro with 19 kills, adding nine digs
Tabitha Meeks contributed 17 kills. Felix finished with 42 assists and nine digs. Marett had a team-high 21 digs.
The Fighting Scots hold a 7-1 advantage in the all-time series against Daemen.
Following Tuesday's contest, Edinboro returns to the friendly confines of McComb Fieldhouse for a nine-match home stand, beginning with a PSAC Crossover event this Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11. The Fighting Scots take on Shippensburg and Millersville on Friday, before battling Pitt-Johnstown and Lock Haven on Saturday.
