Edinboro at Allegheny ResultsMEADVILLE, Pa. (November 14, 2014) – The Edinboro women's swimming team lost by the slimmest of margins on Friday evening. The Fighting Scots swam against Allegheny in nearby Meadville, Pa. and lost 115-114. The Gators improved their record to 2-2 while the Scots dropped to 2-2.
Edinboro went into the final race, the 400 yard freestyle relay, trailing 109-103. The Fighting Scots needed a victory from one of its teams and a third place or better from the other. The grouping of
Staci Schrecongost,
Morgan Joseph,
Breanna Purnell, and
Charlotte Drozda won the race in a time of 3:44.53 but Allegheny captured second and third place in the race to win the dual meet.
Schrecongost went on to win two individual races. The senior won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.47 and the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:23.29.
That would not be Joseph's lone victory of the night as she also was a part of the 200 yard medley relay that won with a time of 1:55.03.
Holly Stein, Mackenize Wargo, and
Megan Gaza rounded out the quartet.
Stein also captured a victory in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:26.36) and second in the 50 yard freestyle (26.16).
Mary Rosati was the last Scot to secure a win. She finished the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:18.29.
Edinboro will next compete at the Wooster Invitational. That event will be from December 4 through December 6 in Wooster, Ohio.
