SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (December 3, 2014) – The Edinboro men's basketball team dropped a 69-65 decision in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division matchup on Wednesday night at Morrow Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots fell to 3-3 on the season and 1-2 in conference play, while The Rock improved to 5-2 and 2-1, respectively.
Trailing by six at 63-57 with 36 seconds remaining in the contest,
Will Marrow converted an old-fashioned three-point play to shrink the Slippery Rock lead to three at 63-30. However, this is as close as the Fighting Scots would come, as The Rock used a 7-2 run to build its lead to seven at 69-62 with five seconds to play.
Jaymon Mason tallied 12 points for the Fighting Scots.Henri Wade-Chatman knocked down a three-pointer at the buzzer to cut the final score to 69-65.
Wade-Chatman led all players with 25 points, connecting on 8 of 20 field goals on the night. The 6'2'' guard made 4 of 9 shots from behind the arc and hit 5 of 8 free throws for the Fighting Scots to go along with six rebounds and three assists. The game marked the Pittsburgh native's third 20-point scoring output of the season and eighth game scoring at least 20 points in his Edinboro career. Wade-Chatman has now scored in double-figures in all six games this season and in 13 of 14 contests dating back to last season.
Jaymon Mason added 12 markers, shooting 4 of 14 from the field, including 2 of 5 on three-point attempts.
Tommy Scales tied a game-high with nine boards to pace Edinboro.
Frank Holloway was the only player to score in double-figures for The Rock, tallying 19 points on 7 of 15 shooting while pulling down eight rebounds. Kelvin Goodwin followed with nine markers. Six Slippery Rock players scored at least eight points in the win.
The Fighting Scots shot 38.1 percent (24-of-63) from the field on the night, while The Rock made 32.4 percent (22-of-68) of field goal attempts. Edinboro drained 8 of 19 (42.1 percent) shots from long range, including 6 of 9 (66.7 percent) in the second half. Slippery Rock made just 2 of 12 (16.7 percent) three-pointers in the game.
While neither team shot a high percentage from the free throw line, The Rock connected on 23 of 36 (63.9 percent) shots from the charity stripe, compared to the Fighting Scots sinking just 9 of 19 (47.4 percent) free throws.
Slippery Rock, the top rebounding team in the PSAC, posted a 56-41 advantage on the glass. The Rock pulled down 26 offensive rebounds, leading to a 22-7 advantage in second-chance points.

Sam Sealy-James layup gave Edinboro its largest lead of the game at 2-0 at the 19:23 mark of the first half. Trailing 10-8 with 11:53 to play in the opening period, Wade-Chatman's three-pointer gave Edinboro an 11-10 advantage. This would prove to be the Fighting Scots' last lead of the night, as a jumper by Chaquille Pratt on the next Slippery Rock possession gave the hosts a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest.
The Rock took a 26-22 lead into halftime and led by as many as 11 in the second half with 6:04 remaining in the game before holding on for the victory.
Edinboro has now dropped nine of its last 10 meetings with Slippery Rock.
The Fighting Scots will look to snap a two-game skid hosting PSAC local rival Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon. The game is slated to begin at 3 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse. The Lakers pulled a 65-63 upset on the road at fifth-ranked Indiana (Pa.) on Wednesday night.
