The Game Story 
EDINBORO, Pa. (September 18, 2014) – The Edinboro spikers will look to extend their five-match winning streak at a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Crossover event this weekend to open conference play. The Fighting Scots travel to West Chester, Pa. for an 11:30 contest with the host Rams before taking on East Stroudsburg at 5 p.m. on Friday. Edinboro then heads to Cheyney, Pa. on Saturday for a pair of matches against Cheyney at 10 a.m. and Kutztown at 3:30 p.m. All four matches will count towards the PSAC standings.
 
The Fighting Scots matched their longest winning streak of last season of five matches with a 3-1 (25-11, 25-17, 19-25, 25-19) win over non-conference foe Notre Dame (Ohio) on Tuesday night at McComb Fieldhouse in their home opener. Prior to Tuesday, Edinboro posted a perfect 4-0 record at last weekend's PSAC/Mountain East Conference Crossover at Gannon University.
 
The last time the Fighting Scots won six matches in a row came during the 2011 campaign, when Edinboro started the season with seven consecutive wins before falling to Angelo State 3-0 in the eighth match of the year.
 
Edinboro currently ranks near the top of the PSAC in several statistical categories. The Fighting Scots sit atop the league with 417 total kills and rank fourth with 13.03 kills per set. Edinboro also paces the PSAC with 70 total service aces. The Scots rank second in the conference with 17.81 digs per set and total digs with 570, while ranking fourth in assists per set at 11.81 and second in total assists with 378.
 
Haley Marett sits second in the PSAC and leads Edinboro with 169 digs on the season. Sydney Trathen paces the Fighting Scots and ranks fifth in the conference with 7.5 assists per set, while recording 240 total assists.  Challen Litwiler ranks third in the conference with a team-high 17 service aces. Maria Concheck leads Edinboro with 27 total blocks, while Latoya Hutchinson has posted 19 blocks in 2014. Jen Gruber leads a balanced Fighting Scot attack with 79 kills, followed by Marah Maycock with 74 kills and Concheck with 50 kills.
 
After this weekend, Edinboro will have five days off before a pair of matches against local rivals Mercyhurst and Gannon next weekend. The Fighting Scots travel to Mercyhurst for a 7 p.m. contest on Friday, September 26 and to Gannon on Saturday, September 27 for a 2 p.m. start.
