The Fighting Scots own a 12-3 overall record and a 5-1 ledger in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play, while The Rock sports an 11-3 mark overall and is 5-1 in the conference.
Edinboro saw its 10-match winning streak snap in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-23) loss to undefeated Gannon on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Scots' ten consecutive victories marked their longest winning streak since collecting 16 wins in a row during the 2010 campaign. Edinboro won 20 of 21 matches that season, including the long winning streak. The Lady Knights sit alone at the top of the PSAC Western Division standings as the lone unbeaten team at 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference after Saturday's win.
With a 349-302 career record over 18 years of coaching, head coach
Missy Soboleski could earn her 350th career coaching victory with a win over Slippery Rock on Tuesday night. Soboleski owns a 216-124 coaching ledger in nine years at Edinboro. Prior to her tenure with the Fighting Scots, Soboleski spent time as the head coach at both Mercyhurst and her alma mater, Gannon.
Edinboro sports a 61-31 advantage in the teams' all-time series. The Fighting Scots have won seven of the last 10 meetings with Slippery Rock dating back to 2009, but the two teams have split meetings the past three seasons 3-3.
The Fighting Scots pace the PSAC in kills (679), assists (610), service aces (118), opponent hitting percentage (.076), opponent kills per set (8.48), and opponent assists per set (7.88). Edinboro also ranks second in the conference with 911 total digs, while The Rock ranks third in the league with 17.48 digs per set.
Jen Gruber leads the Edinboro attack with 120 total kills followed by
Marah Maycock with 115 kills. Maycock paces the Fighting Scots with 2.56 kills per set.
Challen Litwiler leads the PSAC with 30 service aces. Edinboro is 11-1 when Litwiler records at least one service ace this season.
Sydney Trathen has dished out a team-high 356 assists, good for ninth in the conference. Trathen has also recorded 85 kills, 115 digs and 22 total blocks in her debut season.
Haley Marett ranks fourth in the PSAC with a team-high 262 digs, while ranking fifth in the conference with 5.35 digs per set.
Maria Concheck sits seventh in the league with 49 total digs to go along with 87 kills.
The Rock is coming off a thrilling 3-2 triumph over Mercyhurst on Saturday. Kristy Lake and Leah Jones each tallied career highs of 25 and 22 kills, respectively.
Lake leads Slippery Rock with 146 kills on the season, good for fifth in the PSAC. Lake is followed by Jones, who ranks 12th in the conference with 131 kills. Jones also fronts The Rock's defensive unit with 155 digs. Lake tallied a game-high 14 kills with a .400 hitting percentage in Slippery Rock's 3-1 victory over Edinboro last season. In addition, Janna Reilly paces Slippery Rock with 230 assists.
After Tuesday's matchup with The Rock, the Fighting Scots travel to Seton Hill on Friday, October 3 at 7 p.m.
