Final ResultsSHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (January 9, 2015) – The Edinboro women's swimming team traveled to Shippensburg for its first dual meet of the 2015 calendar year on Friday night. The Fighting Scots lost 111-89. They are now 2-2 in the 2014-15 campaign in dual meets while the Lady Raiders improve to 4-2.
The quartet of Morgan Joseph, Holly Stein, Breanna Purnell, and Staci Schrecongost combined for a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:52.73) to kick the meet off. Schrecongost followed shortly after with a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.07).
Stein would go on to win the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:08.70. Edinboro would sweep the top three places in that event as Emily Kling finished second (1:14.80) and Mackenzie Wargo placed third (1:23.06).
Purnell added another win when she paired with Cheyenne Kressley, Megan Gaza, and Charlotte Drozda in the 200-yard freestyle relay. That group finished in a time of 1:46.75 with the Scots grouping of Courtney Kuyer, Dana Cerroni, Jenna O'Dell, and Kara Thorp finishing second with a time of 1:49.71.
The Fighting Scots added second place finishes in three other events. Mary Rosati finished the 1000 yard freestyle in a time of 11:01.84, Stein placed second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.88, and Schrecongost was the runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle finishing in 54:03.
Edinboro is now off for two weeks until they host Clarion on Saturday, January 24.
