Fighting Scots Set to Begin Second Half of PSAC West Play

EDINBORO, Pa. (October 29, 2015) - The first-place Edinboro University volleyball team won its 12th straight game and improved to a historic 25-2 overall, with a 14-1 mark in the PSAC West the past weekend, earning victories over California(Pa.) and Seton Hill by scores of 3-1 in both contests.
 
Fresh off of her 250th career win at Edinboro University, head coach Missy Soboleski looks for her Fighting Scots to keep things rolling through another weekend of PSAC West action.
 
On Friday, October 30 the Fighting Scots head to Indiana (Pa.) for a 7 p.m. match with the Crimson Hawks. IUP enters the weekend with a 15-10 overall record and a 7-8 record in PSAC West action. Edinboro won the first contest of the season with IUP, 3-1, by set scores of 25-17, 25-19, 24-26 and 25-12. Since the last meeting, IUP has won just four matches, while the Fighting Scots have been a perfect 9-0.
 
On Saturday, October 31 the Edinboro squad heads to Clarion for a 1 p.m. contest with the Golden Eagles. Clarion brings a 15-12 overall record into the contest, with a 11-4 record in PSAC West play. The Fighting Scots beat the Golden Eagles in a hotly contested contest, 3-1, by set scores of 25-12, 25-27, 25-23 and 29-27 in the first match-up. Clarion enters the contest on a two match winning streak.
 
Sophomore Challen Litwiler leads the Fighting Scots offense with 357 kills, while junior Victoria Severo ranks second with 248. Severo leads the squad with a .348 hitting percentage. Sophomore Sydney Trathen paces the Fighting Scots attack with 962 assists, while contributing 101 kills.
 
Senior Marah Maycock leads the Edinboro defense with 406 digs. Litwiler and freshman Megan Screptock rank second and third with 317 and 230, respectively. Severo has tallied a team-high 76 total blocks, while junior Latoya Hutchinson leads the squad with 15 block solos. Trathen ranks second with 12 block solos.
