Fighting Scots Wrap Up Regular Season With PSAC Roadtrip

EDINBORO, Pa. (November 11, 2015) - The Edinboro University volleyball team hopes to build some momentum heading into the PSAC playoffs when they take to the road this weekend for two regular season ending PSAC contests. On Friday, November 13, the Fighting Scots travel to Seton Hill for a 7 p.m. match and on Saturday, November 14 they head to California (Pa.) for the regular season finale against the Vulcans at 3 p.m.

The Fighting Scots have already clinched a home PSAC playoff game on Tuesday, November 17 and with a win or Gannon loss this weekend can clinch the number one seed in the PSAC Western Division. In the event of a pair of weekend losses, the Fighting Scots currently hold numerous tie-breakers which would help them clinch the top-seed.

The Edinboro offense is led by the duo of sophomore Challen Litwiler and junior Victoria Severo. The pair is the first to have 300-plus kills apiece since the 2013 trio of Megan Branchick, Marah Maycock and Tabitha Meeks. Litwiler has a team-high 436 kills, while Severo has 306. Severo also has a squad-leading .323 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Sydney Trathen paces the Fighting Scots attack with 1,134 assists, the fourteenth-most in single-season history. Senior Marah Maycock recently earned her 150th career service ace, ranking fifth all-time in school history, while Litwiler has totaled 56 service aces, the ninth-highest total in single-season history.

Maycock, ranks fifth all-time in career digs with 1,579, and leads the Fighting Scots defense with 540 digs this season. Litwiler has also been a factor defensively with 399 digs and 32 total blocks. Severo paces the squad with 94 total blocks, while Trathen and junior Latoya Hutchinson have a team-high 15 block solos apiece.
