Fighting Scots Fall in Fifth Set to California (Pa.)

CALIFORNIA, Pa. (November 14, 2015) – The Edinboro University volleyball team concluded its regular season on Saturday afternoon falling in the fifth set to California (Pa.) by scores of 25-20, 20-25, 25-23, 16-25 and 15-2. The Fighting Scots finish the regular season with a 30-5 overall record and an 18-4 record in the PSAC. Cal has now won eight straight and clinched the fourth seed in the PSAC West, setting up a rematch on Tuesday night between the two teams.
 
This is the first time since 2010 that Edinboro has won 30 games in a season and just the sixth time in program history.
 
The duo of junior Victoria Severo and sophomore Challen Litwiler led the Edinboro offense with a team-high 12 kills apiece. Litwiler has totaled 461 kills this season, the tenth highest total in single-season history. Senior Maria Concheck totaled 10 kills with a .391 hitting percentage in the match. Sophomore Sydney Trathen paced the Fighting Scots attack with 39 assists.
 
Litwiler and senior Marah Maycock led the Fighting Scots defense with 30 kills apiece, a new career-high for Litwiler. Junior Eiley Durham and freshman Hannah Cantrill recorded career-highs in digs as well with 16 and 14, respectively. Severo paced the squad with four block assists and a block solo.
 
The Edinboro volleyball team returns home to McComb Fieldhouse for a home PSAC playoff game on Tuesday, November 17 at 7 p.m. The top-seeded Fighting Scots host fourth-seeded Cal in the two teams third meeting of the season. The season series was split 1-1.
