EDINBORO, Pa. (September 16, 2015) – With a 7-3 PSAC win against Seton Hill Tuesday, their third game in five days, the Edinboro University women's soccer team will get some much-needed time to relax and prepare for a road match against the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, September 19 at 1:00 p.m.
Edinboro has a 4-1-0 overall record and a 3-1-0 PSAC record. In this week's poll by the National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association, Edinboro is ranked 23rd in NCAA Division II and third in the Atlantic Region.
Senior
Jansen Hartmann leads the Fighting Scots in scoring, with a total of 10 points on four goals and two assists. In Tuesday's win at Seton Hill, Hartmann registered a hat trick along with an assist. Sophomore
Ashley Mutkus, who is second on the team in scoring with eight points, helped out, as well, Tuesday with two assists.
Sarah Baskey and
Sierra Davis have shared time in goal for Edinboro. Between the two of them, they have allowed a total of five goals.
Roberts Wesleyan holds an overall record of 2-1-1 and are members of the East Coast Conference. The Redhawks suffered a 4-1 loss to Cedarville in their last match this past Saturday. Brittany Houghton leads Roberts Wesleyan in scoring with 11 points on five goals and one assist. Bella Mitrevski is second in scoring with six points on two goals and two assists.
Redhawks goalie Mary Kate Eckert has allowed six goals in four starts and one shutout win.
The Fighting Scots and Redhawks last met on October 14, 2014 at Sox Harrison Stadium. Edinboro and Roberts Wesleyan were tied at one in double overtime when Mitrevski won it for Roberts Wesleyan with her second goal of the game in the 107th minute.
After Saturday, the Fighting Scots return to PSAC play on Wednesday, September 23 at California (Pa.) at 5:00 p.m.
