EDINBORO, Pa. (September 24, 2015) - The Edinboro University volleyball team will begin conference play this weekend in the PSAC Crossover, hosted by Mercyhurst. The Fighting Scots enter the weekend riding a seven-match winning streak and sit at 10-1 overall. Action gets underway on Friday, September 25 in the Mercyhurst Athletic Center as Edinboro faces Millersville, currently 7-1 overall, at 2 p.m., and Shippensburg, currently 9-2 overall, at 5 p.m.
The Fighting Scots will conclude the weekend on Saturday with match-ups against Lock Haven at 12:30 p.m and Pitt-Johnstown at 3:30. Lock Haven enters the weekend at 7-3, while defending PSAC champion Pitt-Johnstown enters the weekend at 6-2.
Edinboro boasts several players ranked near the top of the PSAC leaderboards. Junior
Victoria Severo is currently ranked fourth in hitting percentage (.372), while sophomore
Challen Litwiler is ranked fourth in kills (148). As a team, the Fighting Scots are tied for first with Pitt-Johnstown in hitting percentage (.257) and first in assists per set (12.89).
Litwiler currently leads the Fighting Scots with 148 kills, while
Sydney Trathen has a team-high 398 assists.
Marah Maycock leads the squad with 125 digs. Severo is also making her presence felt on the defensive side, recording six block solos and 30 block assists.
The PSAC Crossover marks the conclusion of the 15-game road stretch to start the 2015 season for the Fighting Scots. Edinboro will host Daemen in its home opener on Tuesday, September 29 at 7 p.m. in McComb Fieldhouse.
