EDINBORO, Pa. (September 18, 2015) - The Edinboro University volleyball team makes its long-awaited home debut this Tuesday, September 29 when they host Daemen in McComb Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. The Fighting Scots began the season with 15 straight road games, finishing the opening stretch with a 13-2 overall record, including a 3-1 mark in PSAC play.
Head coach
Missy Soboleski guided the Fighting Scots to 13 wins in their first 14 games, the best start in her tenure, before having the streak snapped against preseason PSAC Eastern Division favorite Pitt-Johnstown. That loss also snapped a 10-match winning streak, the longest since a 16-match streak in 2010.
Sophomore
Challen Litwiler leads the Fighting Scots with 224 kills this season, while junior
Victoria Severo paces the squad with a .350 hitting percentage and has 129 kills, ranking second on the team. Sophomore
Sydney Trathen has controlled the Edinboro attack all season long, recording a team-high 547 assists. Senior
Marah Maycock leads the defense with a team-high 214 digs. Severo is also a defensive factor, recording a team-high 47 total blocks this season, while Trathen leads the squad with nine block solo. Junior
Latoya Hutchinson has recorded 25 total blocks this season, ranking second on the team.
The contest with Daemen marks the start of a three-game home stretch for the Fighting Scots. Edinboro will return to PSAC action on Friday, October 2 at 7.pm. against Clarion and Saturday, October 3 at 3.pm against Indiana (Pa.). All the action will take place in McComb Fieldhouse.
