(September 29, 2015) – The Edinboro University volleyball team gave its fans a lot to cheer about in its home opener as the Fighting Scots defeated Daemen, 3-0, by scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-16 to improve to 14-2 on the season. The Fighting Scots have won 11 of their last 12 games. The loss dropped Daemen to 6-8.
Sophomore
Challen Litwiler and junior
Victoria Severo each recorded a team-high 10 kills. Severo, currently ranked third in the PSAC in hitting percentage (.356), earned a .450 hitting percentage in the match. Sophomore
Sydney Trathen recorded 29 assists. Litwiler, currently ranked first in the PSAC in service aces (35), added three more to her season total.
Defensively, senior
Marah Maycock led the way with 20 digs, while Litwiler and freshman
Megan Screptock totaled 13 and 11, respectively. The Fighting Scots totaled seven total blocks, with senior
Latoya Hutchinson contributing a team-high five blocks, including three block solo.
After starting the season with 15-straight road games, The Fighting Scots now continue their three-game homestand with a match on Friday, October 2 in McComb Fieldhouse against PSAC West preseason favorite Clarion. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Fighting Scots will also take on PSAC foe Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday, October 3 at 3 p.m.
