EDINBORO, Pa. (October 29, 2016) -- The 23rd-ranked Edinboro women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day with a 3-0 win over Mansfield on Saturday morning at Sox Harrison Stadium. The win wrapped up the regular season for the Fighting Scots, as they now prepare for a PSAC Quarterfinal Playoff contest on Tuesday, November 1. Edinboro improved to 13-31 overall and finished at 12-3-1 in the PSAC. Mansfield ended the year at 2-14-1 overall and 2-14-0 in the PSAC.

Jess Sandhas were honored in pregame ceremonies, but it was junior
Ashley Mutkus who got the Fighting Scots going. The midfielder/forward scored twice in the first half as Edinboro grabbed a 2-0 halftime lead while going into a strong wind.
Brown nearly gave Edinboro the early lead on a breakaway shot that went over the net. Minutes later, Mutkus dribbled from the right side into the middle, and fired a left-footed shot from 20 yards out over Rachel Fox into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead at 10:51.
Ashley Mutkus scored Edinboro's first two goals on the day.
Just less than ten minutes later, Mutkus added her second goal of the match and team-leading tenth of the season as she gathered in a rebound off Brown's shot and scored at 20:36. Mutkus has a team-leading 23 points.
Despite going into the wind, Edinboro totally dominated the first half with 13 shots compared to one for the Mountaineers.
Edinboro would tack on a goal early in the second period for the final score.
Alex Root scored her third goal of the season off another Brown rebound at 48:12. It gave Brown four assists for the season and 22 points.
The Fighting Scots finished with a wide 21-2 advantage in shots, including 10-1 in shots on goal.
Sarah Baskey matched her own school record set a year ago with her 13th win, as the junior recorded one save while playing the first 77 minutes. It was Edinboro's eighth shutout of the season. Fox had seven saves for Mansfield.
