Fighting Scots Fall to Gannon, 3-0, on Senior Day; Enter PSAC Tournament as Second Seed

Edinboro, Pa. (November 12, 2016) – The Edinboro University women's volleyball team fell short in their pursuit of the top-seed heading into the PSAC Tournament, dropping the regular season finale to Gannon on Saturday afternoon. Prior to Saturday's contest, the Fighting Scots recognized and honored five seniors, including Eiley Durham, Jen Gruber, Latoya Hutchinson, Dee Montanez and Victoria Severo. With the loss, Edinboro finishes the regular season at 23-7 overall and 15-3 in the conference. Gannon clinched the top-seed in the PSAC with a 27-3 overall record and a 16-2 conference ledger.
 
Edinboro now enters the PSAC Tournament as the second seed and will host Indiana(Pa.) on Tuesday night in a PSAC Quarterfinals matchup. The Fighting Scots swept the Crimson Hawks, 3-0, in the season's first meeting.
 
After being recognized prior to the game, seniors Severo and Hutchinson led the Edinboro attack with ten and nine kills, respectively. Hutchinson also tallied two block solos and three block assists while Severo recorded one block solo and one block assist. Junior Sydney Trathen directed the Fighting Scots offense with 27 assists.
 
Junior Taylor Palowski led the team with nine digs. Trathen and fellow junior Challen Litwiler each finished with seven digs apiece.
 
The Gannon offense was led by Kelsey Ansec and Hannah Kren. Both Lady Knights finished with a .500 hitting percentage or better as Ansec finished with 18 kills on 30 attempts for a .500 hitting pct. while Kren recorded 15 kills on 26 attempts for a .538 hitting pct.
