SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (February 3. 2016) – The Edinboro University women's basketball team scored a season-high 36 points from the free throw line as well as a season-high 46 second-half points to record a season-sweep of PSAC foe Slippery Rock, posting a 78-70 victory. The Fighting Scots have won seven of their last eight outings and now hold a 16-7 overall record with an 11-6 ledger in the PSAC West. With the loss, The Rock drop to an even 11-11 on the season and are 7-9 in the PSAC West.
Michelle Jahn led Edinboro with 21 pointsMichelle Jahn opened the scoring in the contest, recording her first of three first quarter 3-pointers just 24 seconds into the game. Tied at 5-5 with 5:49 remaining in the opening quarter, Jahn hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Fighting Scots an 11-7 lead. The final five Edinboro points of the quarter came from the free throw line as the Fighting Scots took a 16-11 lead into the second period, which grew to 32-25 by halftime.
Edinboro entered the locker 9-of-10 from the charity stripe and held a 25-16 advantage on the glass.
The Fighting Scots lead grew to double-figures at 42-32 with 6:19 remaining in the third quarter following a
Katie Fischer 3-pointer. Fischer scored six of the first ten points in the quarter for Edinboro. Still trailing by ten at 49-39 with 1:17 remaining in the third quarter, The Rock scored the final four points of the quarter to cut the deficit to just six points heading into the final period.
Both offenses came alive in the fourth quarter, as Edinboro scored 29 points while Slippery Rock put up 27. The Fighting Scots accounted for 21 of their 29 points, including the final 15 points, from the free throw line as the Edinboro was 21-of-27 from the charity stripe in the final quarter.
Jahn led four Fighting Scots in double-figures with 21 points and hit a team-high 3-of-8 3-pointers.
Aignee' Freeland recorded her ninth double-double of the year, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds. She also blocked three shots, pushing her career-total to 128, good for fifth all-time.
Fischer also finished with 17 points and dished out five assists to move her into eighth place for single-season assists with 149.
Lauren Hippo was the final Fighting Scot in double-digits finishing with 13 points, setting a new career-high making 11-of-14 free throws. Hippo's 13 points move her into 29
th place all-time with 1,022 career
Katie Fischer moved into 8th place with 149 assists this season points.

Nicole Johnson each pulled down nine boards apiece.
The Fighting Scots were outshot by The Rock, shooting 33.3 percent (19-of-37) from the field to Slippery Rock's 40.4 percent (23-of-57). Edinboro held a large rebound margin, however, winning the battle on the glass, 47-32.
Ciara Patterson led The Rock with 19 points, while Lexi Carpenter added 15. Megan Hardiman was The Rock's leading rebounder with seven to go along with her 11 points. Morgan Henderson came off the bench to total 10 points.
The Fighting Scots are gearing up for a big test this weekend as a showdown with first place with Indiana (Pa.) awaits them this Saturday, February 6.
