CLERMONT, Fla. (March 12, 2016) – For the first time this season, the Fighting Scots dropped both games in an afternoon. Edinboro lost a battle with Ashland, 3-2, before being blanked by #20 Southern New Hampshire, 5-0. The Fighting Scots conclude their spring trip with a 5-7 record and won't return to action until Friday, March 25, when they make their home debut hosting PSAC foe Seton Hill.

Dan Gierlak reflected on the 12-game trip: "We have proven we can play with just about anybody. It's the inconsistency that we have to get over. The inconsistency in play, both offensively and defensively, we need to tighten that up. We can fix some things going back up north and we should be able to make some noise in the conference."
Game One – Ashland 3, Edinboro 2 The Fighting Scots met Ashland for the second time this season, playing the Eagles much tougher the second go around.
After Ashland scored the first two runs of the game in the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead, the Fighting Scots wasted little time in responding. After
Heather Tighe led off the bottom of the fourth with a single, she scored on a throwing error to cut the deficit to 2-1. Following a
Jessica Hyland single in the bottom of the fifth,
Claire Johnston ripped a pinch hit single up the middle to score Hyland and knot the game up at 2-2.
The Eagles scored what proved to be the winning run in the top of the sixth as Edinboro left the tying and winning run stranded on second and third in the bottom of the seventh.
Carley Nasca got the start for Edinboro, giving up nine hits while striking out and walking a pair. Nasca dropped to 2-2 on the year with the loss. Hannah Stroe recorded her second win of the season for Ashland, both coming against the Fighting Scots, improving to 2-4.
Game Two – #20 Southern New Hampshire 5, Edinboro 0 For the first time this season, the Fighting Scots failed to produce a run in a contest. Edinboro ran into the no. 20 ranked team in Division II in the spring trip finale.
Amanda Metz pitched five innings in reliefSouthern New Hampshire scored three runs in the first inning and two in the second to take a 5-0 lead that they held onto for the entirety of the ball game. The Fighting Scots recorded six hits against the Penmen, two coming off the bat of
Danna Heh.
Kalet Lenart recorded her first loss of the season, dropping to 2-1 on the season.
Amanda Metz came in for relief of Lenart after the first inning, pitching five innings, giving up four hits and no runs.
Sarah Lavallee picked up her second win of the season, improving to 2-0 on the year.
