Friday's doubleheader was scheduled to be Edinboro's home opener, but unfavorable weather conditions forced the two teams to play in Greensburg, Pennsylvania
Edinboro is right back in action tomorrow, traveling to local PSAC rival Gannon for a doubleheader. First pitch from Erie is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Game One: Seton Hill 5, Edinboro 3The Fighting Scots jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first thanks in part to a
Theresa Fleckenstein two-RBI single. Leadoff batter
Kylie Mason was hit by a pitch and advance to second on a passed ball before getting to third on a wild pitch.
Olivia Jankowski drew a walk, followed by
Haley Struebing being hit by a pitch to load the bases. Mason came home on a passed ball before Fleckenstein singled up the right side to score both runners.
Seton Hill didn't take long to respond, scoring a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the first to cut the Edinboro lead to 3-2.
After three scoreless innings, the Griffins got back on the scoreboard with a three-run fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead courtesy of RBIs from Abbey Suhoski, Victoria Stock and Paige Hertzog. Seton Hill set the Fighting Scots down in order the final two innings to take the first game of the doubleheader, 5-3.
Carley Nasca received the start for Edinboro, pitching six innings with five strikeouts, nine hits and one walk while giving up two earned runs. With the loss, Nasca is now 2-3 for the young season.

Game Two: Seton Hill 7, Edinboro 5Unlike the day's opening contest, the Fighting Scots did their offensive damage late in the game.

After accounting for four hits in the first five innings, the Fighting Scots bats started to rally in the top of the sixth, scoring three runs to cut the deficit to 5-3. The big at-bat came courtesy of
Haley Struebing, who homered to deep center, bringing home
Olivia Jankowski who was on second following a walk and stolen base. Not to be outdone by her teammate,
Brooke Callaghan stepped into the batter's box and jacked a home run of her own, this one to right center to make it a two-run ball game.
Seton Hill answered with a pair of runs of its own in the bottom of the sixth off a two-run home run from Carlee Wickstrom to push the lead to 7-3.
The Fighting Scots refused to go down without a fight, however. Leadoff batter
Alexandra Carroll walked, followed by a MaryLouise Lidner single to set up
Kylie Mason who delivered a two-run double to cut the lead to 7-5. Mason was thrown out at third trying to stretch the double to a triple.
Olivia Jankowski and
Haley Struebing hit back-to-back singles to put runners on first and third.
Danna Heh came in to pinch run for Struebing and advanced to second on a passed ball. Callaghan drew a walk to load the bases, but unfortunately the Fighting Scots left all three runners stranded to end the game.
